There are several summer programs with opportunities in academics, research, and professional development. Below is a non-exhaustive list of programs with summer components.
Summer Scholars Writing Academy
A free 6-week writing program for current and incoming UC Davis undergraduates to enhance their creative and academic writing skills. Deadline to join is June 15, 2026 for Summer Session I and July 27, 2026 for Summer Session II.

Summer Start
A 6-week academic and cultural preparation program for incoming first-year international undergraduate students during summer session II. Invites are often sent out when admissions notifications release. The deadline to join the program is often in May.

AvenueE Transfer Bridge
A 2-week summer transition program for community college transfer students in the college of engineering. Application for incoming students is available in the myadmissions portal. LEADR Summer Bridge

Undergraduate Public Health Scholars (UPHS)
A 8–10-week mentored summer research program for students interested in health equity within the public health sector. To apply, students must have completed 3 years of university and have at least 1 year remaining. Applications often open in January and close mid-February.

Maternal Child Health Careers/Research Initiatives for Student Enhancement - Undergraduate Summer Program (MCHC/RISE-UP)
A 6-week leadership program hosted at the UC Davis MIND Institute for undergraduate students interested in public health, maternal child health, and neurodevelopmental conditions. To apply, students must be at least a rising junior. Applications often open in early January and close January 31.

Plant, Environmental and Agroecology Sciences Fellowship (PEAS)
A flexible, 8–10-week summer research fellowship open to all students. To apply, you must not be in your final academic year. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply, as projects are not just limited to plant sciences! Applications often open in January.

Mentorship for Undergraduate Research Participants in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MURPPS)
A year-round research program with a full-time summer research component for first-generation students with financial need who intend to pursue a graduate degree in mathematical and physical sciences. To apply, you must be second-year or above and in good academic standing. Applications often open in January and close in February or March.

California Alliance for Maximizing Potential (CAMP)
A year-round research program with a full-time summer research component for STEM students who are interested in research. To apply, you must be second-year or above and in good academic standing. Applications often open in January and close in February or March.

Cancer Undergraduate Research Experience Program (CURE)
A 2-year research program with the UC Davis Cancer Center for students interested in pursuing a career in cancer care or research. During the summer, students participate in full-time research. Applications often open in January and close mid-February.

Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC)
A 2-year research program for students interested in pursing a PhD in a biomedical field. During the summer, students participate in full-time research. Applications often open in January and close mid-February.

GREAT (Global Research Experience in Advanced Technologies) Summer Research
An 8-week mentored research program for visiting international undergraduate students from partner universities. Students must be nominated by their home campus. UC Davis students are not eligible. The program often runs from July - August each year.
