Summer at UC Davis offers more than just classes

UC Davis Summer Sessions offers hundreds of courses to current students and the community. But there is much more to take advantage of, if you know where to look. This year, programmatic offerings include a free writing academy, increased virtual classes, events for both in-person and remote students as well as support services from campus units.

More Social Events, Resources Support Summer Sessions Students

Alison Rader picked up the pink and green towel she had used as a mat, drew a deep breath and smiled. “I’ve been feeling kind of keyed up,” the rising senior said. “Yoga in the morning helps release some of that tension.”

Soon the statistics major was off to class in a fast-paced, six-week course in calculus, but not before Summer Sessions staff, who had organized the yoga class, invited her to the next day’s coffee and donut gathering for students before exams in the first summer session.

Your wishes granted by Summer Sessions

UC Davis undergraduates spoke and Summer Sessions listened. More than 2,000 students responded to questions about desired summer courses, their motivation for taking summer courses and preferences for online, in-person or hybrid courses. This was in response to a wish list survey sent earlier this year.

"We value students’ voices," said Omega Lee, Summer Sessions executive director. "That's why we created the wish list — to pinpoint the summer courses they need, helping them stay on track and get ahead."
